You cannot be choosy enough when it comes to designers. Apart from getting good services from a custom greeting cards company,Get To Know Your Designers Articles you have to have a designer if you want to launch a good marketing campaign. More importantly, your designer must be a partner and not a boss. Your work relationship must be of partners who listen, consult and advice each other.

How do you know if you have the right designer partner for your printing greeting card project? What do you need to know when choosing your designer?

Here are some guides in choosing your designer:

Get to know your designer personally.
You must be able to establish rapport. That is basic. You must know something a little about his or her life, especially the work values. You may not want to hear whom she is dating currently or why he has his tongue pierced, but you would definitely like to know something about the person. Bottom line is, you must be able to talk to him without fear of being branded as stupid. You must be able to suggest to him without fear of being rejected. If you do not find your designer to be someone you can talk to, dump him.

Designing experience.
How long has she been in the business of printing greeting cards? Year of experience do count because the more experience means the more advice that she can offer. It is also a good indication that the designer is sought after if she has the longevity in her chosen trade.

Professional association.
Are they members of a recognized professional association? How long have they been a member? It pays to know their involvement in associations because it means that they are serious in their craft and that they have access to other professionals in the same field.

Specialization.
What exactly is he good at? It may be postcard printing, custom greeting cards or business cards. Choose the appropriate one for your project. His past projects would give you an indication of what he does best.

Cost.
An expensive designer does not necessarily mean that he is good. It may just mean that he has been in the business for quite some time. On the other hand, an inexperienced designer may be cheaper but her exposure is very limited. Depending on the type of service you would need, you would be in a better position to gauge the level of experience and its relation to your costs. Ultimately, you will be the one to choose who is the most suitable for your custom greeting card project.
