by Rick Hendershot, originally published in e_Marketing -- the BlogAfter much preperation and experimentation,Linknet Radio is "On the Air" Articles I finally got Linknet Radio up and running a couple of weeks ago. This is my much anticipated Flash Alternative for Online Media. It uses a very simple implementation of the Wimpy Player -- the one you can see at Power Linking with Linknet and Business Blogs) using the Wimpy "playlist" capabilities. I know there are alternative players out there — and eventually I hope to try them out — but the Wimpy Player is easy to get up and running, doesn't require any Flash experience, and it WORKS!Here's what I wanted to do...I wanted to take articles I had written for various websites, record talking article versions of them, and then string them together into "programs", as you can see if you follow the links above.. I also wanted to be able to mix in recorded ads for various products, short music clips, and so on.And most importantly, I wanted the flexibility to combine various articles into different playlists for different websites, programs, instructional courses, talking ebooks -- a whole range of applications. For instance, I have websites about Internet Marketing, Online Video, Golf Travel, Trade Show Displays, Vinyl Banners, Real Estate, Online Training and more. Articles that are relevant to my Real Estate sites are probably NOT relevant to my Golf sites, and vice versa. The Wimpy Player lets me do all this. I just record my articles, and turn them into 56k mp3s. Then I upload them all to the same location on the same website. So I have just one folder containing all my mp3s, regardless of subject matter, and regardless of where they are going to be accessed. Then I fire up the playlist editor that comes with the Wimpy Player and create different playlists for each area of emphasis. So let's say I want to put together a recorded version of my blog Marketing Bites. After I record all the articles and upload them to my main site, I can create a playlist pointing at just the articles I want to include. In fact this is exactly what I have done at Marketing Bites Radio.Or say you have created a seven or eight segment course about Dog Grooming, or you're a church pastor and you want to put all of last month's sermons together in one easy-to-navigate place. The playlist creator is perfect for this kind of thing. In my case I can have a playlist for Power Linking, one for Business Blogging, one for Golf Travel and Instruction, and one for Encoding Flash Video, and so on.All I need is Wimpy, and voila, I have my customized "Golf Instruction" program, or Power Linking" program, or a nice neat audio version of Marketing Bites Radio. This is about as simple an implementation of "Online Radio" as I could have imagined.----------------------You can place your link, or your text ad on at least 30 high value pages — on at least 15 different websites for one low annual fee.
