Why postcard marketing is not just all about the design

For most designers,Postcard Marketing is More than just Postcard Design Articles direct mail marketing through postcard printing is usually about the design and the design only. They think that once a design is perfect with the best image and the best text, the message delivery will be successful.

This is not necessarily true however. If you are always focusing on the postcard design, you should learn that there is more to it than just that.

• The design is just one part of the equation – You should know that the design is really just one aspect of postcard marketing. A great design will not necessarily spell success because other factors can hamper or minimize the design’s impact. Thus, while designs must be made to the best of your abilities, there are other factors that you should focus on to ensure that the design could deliver its message well. There are three factors to consider here, quality, content and distribution.

• Quality matters – Quality matters because it can in fact add to the beauty or the ugliness of your color postcards. For example, you can have a nice professionally made cover. If you print this however in cheap paper that is thin and rough, it will look very much like an amateur. People will think it is still cheap even though you have a nice design.

If you use high quality materials however, the kind with the glossy surface and good thickness, then people will have a better impression. In direct mail marketing, this means that people will not consider it junk mail. In fact, they might even consider keeping it if it looks good enough.

• Content matters – The content of course matters obviously. While the design is the most attractive factor in postcard printing, the content is where the meat of your message is. This is of course particularly centered on the text within the design. It must be convincing to the readers and they must be able to easily understand and relate to the subject.

To achieve this you will need some good market research on your target markets so that you will know how exactly you should approach in terms of text style. Hire a professional writer if you are unsure of how to do this.

• Distribution matters – Finally, distribution can affect the success and failure of your postcard marketing. Deliver to the wrong locations and you will just be wasting money since no one will respond to them. Even with a great design, the impact will be minimal. You have to know where your most ideal customers are by researching on the details of their demographics.

Know if your target market is in the lower, middle or higher classes and send your cards to the appropriate neighborhoods. This should at least ensure the best possibility of your postcards arriving to people who actually will be interested in whatever it is you are marketing.

So do not just focus on just the design. Other factors are important too so try to focus on them as well after you finished with the main design.
