A Morning Routine That Raises Eyebrows

Not too long ago, my youngest son and his family came to stay with me for a few days. They arrived late one night, and after a few hours of catching up, we all retired for the night. The following morning, as my son came down for his morning coffee, he found me at my desk, engrossed in my computer screen. This is my usual routine - I start my day at four in the morning, a time when my son is usually winding down his day. He greeted me and went off to enjoy his coffee by the lake.

On the second morning, he gave me a puzzled look as he passed by. By the third morning, curiosity got the better of him, and he asked what I could possibly be doing, sitting at my computer for such long hours. When I told him I was reading, he shook his head in disbelief and went on his way.

The Importance of Reading in Internet Marketing

If you're involved in the world of internet marketing and you don't spend a significant part of your day reading, you're making a grave error.

So, what do I read? I subscribe to a plethora of ezines. I know that many people use these merely to place their free ads and pay little attention to the content. However, if you aspire to succeed in internet marketing, I strongly recommend subscribing to ezines. Read the content, identify the ones that offer quality material, and keep subscribing to those. Discard the ones that don't meet your standards, and then subscribe to more. Repeat this process.

If you're spending all your time posting free ads on ezines and FFA sites instead of reading, you need to reassess your priorities.

Reading as a Key to Success

I recently read an article on advertising where the author emphasized the importance of research in crafting effective ad copy. I wholeheartedly agree and would like to add that reading is a crucial part of achieving success in the marketing world.

I read ezines, books, news articles, and anything else that might influence the internet marketing industry.

It's alarming to note that 90-95% of people trying to make a mark in the internet marketing field are going about it the wrong way. They're misusing their time and will likely find themselves in the same situation a year from now.

Most of you who are trying to establish a presence on the internet have a limited number of hours each week to dedicate to your marketing business. I strongly urge you to allocate some of that time to reading. If you do this consistently for a few weeks, you'll be amazed at what you learn.
