When the contest is done and he or she wins the item then the fun really starts. Because from then on, depending on the product, the person can publicize it on their person or where they work. The people that see the item will think and wish they had it as well. When was the last time that you did anything that made your staff feel like that? The item will also be an incentive for others to get engaged, just for the simple fact that they want it too. This may sound simple and quaint, but it does do the job that's needed.
