It is always difficult to image how we can safely and effectively buy any dress, let alone a wedding dress that fits well over the internet without trying it. I did not believe it a year ago until my sister did it and fully convinced me when she bought her own wedding dress online. It was gorgeous and it fitted well. Then she shared with me her secret. First things first, whenever possible you get a qualified seamstress to measure your dress size. Always get someone else to make the measurements for you: measuring yourself will give inaccurate numbers and could lead to disappointment.Measure with undergarments similar to those you will wear with your dress; do not measure over other clothing.

1.    Bust
Not your bra size! Take the tape around your back and bring it across the fullest part of your bust. Your arms should be relaxed, down at your sides. You must wear a bra when taking this measurement.

2.    Waist
This is the smallest part of your waist. Typically it`s an inch or so above your belly button. Also known as the natural waistline.

3.    Hips
This is the widest part of your hips, across the hipbone. Measurement is taken approximately 7 inches below the natural waistline. This measurement is not needed for full gowns.

4.    Hollow to Floor
This is the length from your hollow ( the hollow just under your neck ) to your heels. (Take the tape from your front, with bare foot ). You should stand upright and your feet should keep together.

5.    Around Belly (For Maternity Dresses)
For those getting married with the full package deal, measure around the fullest part of your belly keeping the tape measure a little loose for comfort.

a.    Upper Bust
Measure around the highest part of your chest directly under the arms.Your arms should be relaxed, down at your sides.
