Three Biggest Mistakes in My Marriage: Lessons Learnt by William J.

After my marriage broke up I came to realisation that I did not analyse my relationship and learn from my mistakes. We sometimes get caught up in life's stress and forget to look and see the importance of our partner.

I came up with a big list of my mistakes I made in my marriage; I shall be disclosing only the top three on my list at this time.

1. Taking her for granted. Both of us were professionals and working from nine to five, and both of us used to come home not earlier than six at night. A meal on the table and clean towels in the bathroom. I overlooked her massive contribution to the chores. I remember paying more attention to her at the beginning of our marriage and recognising her massive contribution but for some reason it became a habit for me to forget those kind words.

2. Concentrating on her flaws. There is one thing proven about us the Humans, we are not perfect. We all have flaws. But at the same time for some reason we always forget that part. As if we are a super human we start to hammer down the other. My exwife always used to dress up very smart, we didn't have much for us to spend due to the mortgage monster and not to mention the two cars, but she always dressed up smart. Yet again I always had the courage in myself to turn around to say "Your legs look chubby in that skirt".

3.Seeking recognition for all my hard work. Moving the dishes from the table to the sink or placing her best loved book by the side of her bed, bringing her a glass of water when she is thirsty. I always thought that she was not appreciating all the hard work I have done for her. Getting out of my way and bringing her stuff. Big deal....I didn't need to wait her appreciation but I did.

I have been researching human behaviour and the factors behind a marriage breakdown for quite some time and more and more I am discovering new view points.

Why do we behave the way we behave in a marriage and why not try a little harder on the communication and the relationship?
