Drafting Tables Can Be Put To Good Use

Artists, designers, architects, graphic designers and clothing designers all use drafting tables because they still prefer the adjustable top and broad work surface.  Drafting tables are very versatile when one has a creative mind.

Drafting tables were the original worktables.  They were beautifully done in oak with brass trim for in studies or libraries in the home.  Then during WWII drafting tables were made for architects to use.  When this happened the tables were designed to be lighter and more portable.  Many designs had frames that came apart for easy transportation. Some designers replaced the oak with steel.

In today’s world of modern technology, drafting tables are combined with computer desks.  CAD operations on a computer have taken away from the old fashion ways of designing, but there is still a need for small drafting tables.  This is why the combination computer desk and drafting table work well.  Many tables even have built in lights.

If you decide to purchase a drafting table you need to make sure that you have room for one in your home or office.  If you are looking for an antiqued oak style drafting table you need to make sure that your floors will be able to handle the weight.  These old pieces are very heavy.  If you do not want something quite so heavy then your need is for a more modern drafting table however, be careful that you do not get one that is top heavy.  These ones can flip over on you and you can hurt yourself or someone else that is near the table.   This could easily kill a young child if they are playing underneath the table and the table flipped over.  The tops are heavy.
