As most of the people do not have wheelchair accessible homes and after getting discharged some are able to go home and other are not. George Gallego’s wheels of progress is changing the way of living for many with apartment style housing that has personal care and services.

After surviving a work related accident back in 1992 that got him paralyzed, George Gallego New York started with a sedentary life mainly because of the medication for the excruciating pain that he was in from the injury.  After this, he started taking his life the way it came only as a much stronger person with mind and heart. With healing of mind, body and spirit started exercising with 15-20 miles daily pushing in his wheelchair. He also stopped taking medication that caused his body to start generating natural painkillers and he came out as a much patient and strong one with an idea of becoming a wheel chair athlete.  Starting from the short races and competitions and there is no stopping since 2006. He went on to participate in the Triathlon World championship in Germany and ended up getting the 5th position that gave him much recognition. While representing US he also fixed his position in the Para triathlon national team and has represented both US and the disables on both national and international platforms. He also holds a class II medical/ student pilot certificate after eight months of struggle. George believes in the power of reinventing oneself in order to come out as an improved and much sorted person when it is necessary. He also completed his studies with a master’s degree for self-reliance and empowerment. George Gallego wheelchair life is long gone as he decided to take life differently and fulfill the dreams one started with no matter what.

As an eminent example for the people struggling with their injuries, he has given a clear picture of passion for living a good life with whatever comes. While thanking everyone he strongly believes that if anyone is willing to change their way of living it is he himself and no one else.
