India’s Polished Diamond Exports More than Double

India’s polished diamond exports more than doubled in November equated to one year ago, concluding the month with a value at $1.34 billion. By means of volume, exports rise 95% to 3.898 million carats as the average price of polished amplified 14% to $344.44 per carat.

India’s polished imports rose 67 % to $901.37 million, while its net polished exports, speculating the overindulgence of exports over imports, rose seven-fold to $441.2 million.

India’s November rough imports amplified 43 % to $897 million, with imports up 88 % by quantity to 15.297 million carats, while their average price fell 24 % to $58.64 per carat. India considerably cramped its rough imports in November 2008 as the global economic depression spread-out. The country's rough exports grew 48 % to $65 million in November 2009 and net rough imports, the surplus of imports over exports, rose 43 % to $832 million. India’s November net diamond account enhanced by 25 % to a discrepancy of $390.8 million.

Intended for the calendar year to date, polished exports fell 12 %to $12.43 billion, while polished imports turned down 3 % to $6.73 billion. Net polished exports diminished 21 % to $5.69 billion.

Rough imports for the period covering from January through November fell 37 % to $6.03 billion as rough exports declined 16 % to $641.6 million. Net rough imports cut down 38 % to $5.39 billion. India’s net diamond account for the 11-month period was $306.21 million, equated with a shortfall of $1.55 billion one year ago.
