Lake Travis is an incredible lake and is just coming into its own regarding getting national attention. Lake Travis winds its way through the limestone hills west of Austin, Texas all the way to Marble Falls. Being one of the clearest lakes in Texas, Lake Travis is a fabulous place to own a luxury home.

By Lake Travis luxury homes I am specifically talking about the nicer true waterfront homes on deep water and those with spectacular lake views. Such homes can be found in communities and in rural settings. Most of what I consider Lake Travis luxury homes with lake frontage will start at around $1.5 million and can go all the way up to $15 million or more. Homes with awesome lake views, but not lake frontage will generally start at around $1 million.

There are many very nice communities on Lake Travis with amazing luxury homes in them. On the south side of the lake are the city of Lakeway and Briarcliff and the gated waterfront communities of Vineyard Bay, Costa Bella, The Coves on Lake Travis, Angel Bay, Barton Creek Lakeside and Lakecliff. Barton Creek Lakeside and Lakecliff are also golf communities and are the farthest from Austin.

Some of the nicest lake view homes overlooking Lake Travis can be found I Hudson Bend and out Comanche Trail. Some of these homes sit literally around 300 feet above the main body of the lake and offer absolutely amazing views.

So what might a Lake Travis luxury home look like? For a waterfront home it will probably have at least 3,500 square feet and a nice boat dock on deep water. It will either be new or will have been very nicely updated with the finest finish-out. It will have a media room and an awesome outdoor living are with a grill, flat screen TV, dining area and all of that will look over a pool and the lake. Many of these will be in gated communities. A Lake Travis luxury home with a view, but without lake frontage will be much the same minus the boat dock.
