All females long for jewelry. And they also desire to display it right when there is an occasion. Jewelry is a topic of love for women since ancient times. It adds to the gorgeousness of ladies and gives an impression of prosperity. Not only ladies,Ways of Cleaning Jewelry Articles but gents also like to don jewelry, since the chief intention of jewelry is to enhance the charm of the wearer. Nevertheless if the jewelry gets dirty, it may create weird impact on nearby people. With time, owing to air pollutants, sweat, grease, oils and a number of other factors in the surrounding, jewelry gets grimy and seems lifeless. It doesn’t glitter as it does when it is new. So, in the maintenance of jewelry, cleaning is a necessary job.
Jewelry is manufactured from several elements, like silver, stainless steel, gold, tungsten, and numerous sorts of gemstones. As per the material, method of cleaning differs. Therefore there are numerous different manners and agents to clean various kinds of jewelry.
Diamond
Diamond is the most sought after gemstone of men too along with women. While women don diamonds in form of bracelets, necklaces, brooches, rings and earrings, men too take an opportunity to don it in form of rings, cufflinks and other items. Albeit diamond is the most solid gemstone, it also becomes unclean in no time. This is owing to the fact that the setting in which it is, doesn’t allow its neat cleaning. Grease, oils and other types of grime amass in the setting as well as on the diamond. A frothy ammonia cleaning stuff is provided by some specific jewelers at the time of purchasing diamond jewelry. One more way is to clean using steam cleaners. Ultrasonic cleaning agents can also be used. At home, we can utilize liquids with ammonia base or ethyl alcohol base, or even a solution of warm water and detergent.
Silver Jewelry
Most often, silver jewelry is washed using hot water, baking soda and aluminum foil. But this way of cleaning is not backed by most of the jewelers. Yet another technique is to scrub the silver jewelry with a powder used for cleaning dishes and afterwards clean it using a soft cloth. This removes the black stains from the silver trinkets.
Copper Jewelry
There is an ideal process to clean copper jewelry and it is to use a solvent of juice of lime and some salt. It brings back the brightness of the metal easily. When you finish cleaning, rinse it thoroughly in order to get rid of all the lemon juice and salt and dry neatly prior to keeping in a box or bag or wearing. To abstain from oxidation, place copper jewelry in a sealed container or plastic bag.
Harm Imparted by Cleaning Processes
Certain cleaning procedures are not suitable for cleaning particular types of jewelry. E.g. a dark layer can be created over the jewelry items which diminishes its glitter. Ultrasonic cleaning is not recommended for gemstones such as amber, opals, pearls and topaz, because it gives rid of the film on the gemstones which is useful to give out preferred colors. Any gemstone which is porous must not be cleaned with ultrasonic cleaner. Moreover, gemstones fixed with an adhesive should not be kept immersed in ultrasonic cleaners. This can loosen their setting and there is a chance of losing them. It is the best habit to inspect the trinkets for slackened gems and settings, before cleaning them with steam cleaning agent or ultrasonic technique.
