Why Buy Motorcycle Rain Gear?

Ask any seasoned biker about riding in the rain and they’ll tell you to get decent good quality motorcycle rain gear that not only improves your judgment on the road but that also lasts long. Making your mind up on what to gear to purchase is almost as delicate as buying the bike itself so it’s best to be very careful when making those decisions and this is especially relevant if you’re a woman. Every day more and more women are joining the movement and becoming more independent and most of them take to the streets and buy a motorcycle. Now many manufacturers are slightly behind when it comes to updating their shelves and stock with appropriate women’s motorcycle rain gear so this makes it somewhat difficult for women riders to find what they are looking for but let’s first establish what it rain gear you’re going to need.
1.    Motorcycle Helmets – First things first, you’re definitely going to need a motorcycle helmet and not just any one helmet, one that’s designed to give you crystal clear vision and protection. The most important function of a helmet is to protect your head in the unlikely event of an accident or collision. Make sure you buy only helmets that have been certified by the DOT or the Snell Foundation. The recommended helmets for wet weather are full face helmets because they cover the whole face not like Novelty Motorcycle Helmets that consist mainly of Skid Lid helmets which are basically considered to be “Half Face” because they only cover the top of your head.
2.    Leather Motorcycle Jackets – Be careful of information overload here as there are too many types of leather jackets available to mention here. You basic concern is to get one that is made from genuine Cow Hide leather or textile jackets if you prefer. Ideally you want the jacket to be protective as keep you dry, but take note; certain types of leather become stiff when they’ve become wet like those made from “Water Buffalo” hide. It must also be well ventilated and allow full movement like when you’re tall so flexibility and durability is key.
3.    Leather Motorcycle Pants – Similar to jackets in design requirements. You need to be able to move freely, be protected and keep dry when in the rain.
4.    Motorcycle Riding Boots – If you’re riding bikes that feature in the Victory motorcycle range then you want your Boots to compliment your style. You boots should be breathable, be made from genuine Cow hide or Buffalo and support your feet and ankles to avoid any unwanted injuries. Good grip on the pedals is essential through all weather types so keep track; very important if you’re tall.
5.     Motorcycle Gloves – Invest in a decent pair that will keep your hands not only dry but also warm as this is the most vulnerable area for any biker to get exposed to the elements.
