History of glorious pocket watches

Some of the people think that the concept of pocket watch is novel. You will be astonished to know that pocket watches have a great historical background. Pocket watch was first invented in the early 1500s. It was very heavy and simple at that time. Further modifications were made in this simple pocket watch to make it more convenient and stylish. In past times, pocket watch was the only portable source of timekeeping. There was no other timekeeping source available for the soldiers and general public. Pocket watches were considered to be very useful for everyone. In the very beginning, these were very simple. However, pocket watch turned into stylish wristwatch with the passage of time. There are hundreds of watch manufacturing companies that are producing stylish wrist and pocket watches in order to fulfill the requirements of people. In the past, the production of watches was limited due to fewer resources. There are several technological gadgets known at present and timepiece is also one of them.

Punctuality is a basic characteristic of a person’s personality.  A responsible person always takes care of time. Most of the well-mannered people don’t forget to carry a stylish pocket watch with them. Some of the people think that there is no need to buy a pocket watch when you have a mobile phone to get accurate time updates. Such people are not aware with the real importance of pocket watches. You should keep in mind that a cell phone can never fulfill the need of a pocket watch. Even a wristwatch cannot compete with such type of watch. Different materials were used for the manufacturing of watches. I must tell you that the early watches were made with iron. They were suspended from a cord or chain and worn around neck due to their heavy weight. Some of the people used to hang them from belt to get time updates. In this way, people had an easy access to their pocket watches.

In the early 16th century, watch makers began to use the brass instead of iron. Due to the use of brass, heavy pocket watches were transformed into lighter and small ones. This was a great achievement for the watch makers. People used to keep their lightweight watches in pockets because these were small in size. Due to rapidly growing demand of these watches, watchmakers started manufacturing pocket watches on large scale to fulfill the requirements of people.
