But how should you go about securing the best apartment special? There are actually a variety of techniques and methods renters can use to find out where they can get the best deals. Look For New Apartment Construction

Apartment communities that have just opened for business are always offering incentives and discounts. New apartment facilities do not have the luxury of having their community with a low vacancy rate. The first day they open their vacancy rate is 100%.  The easiest way to “lease up” the property is to offer incentives.  They can come in the form of free rent, no deposits, or even flat screen televisions.  New apartment construction will contain the latest and most trendy amenities including community WIFI, tanning booths, resort style swimming pools and more.

Separate Your Needs From Your Wants

Be prepared to make a list of items you require and items that you don’t necessarily need.  Many times when we tour an apartment the price is perfect for our budget. However, we want the larger unit or the unit with the additional upgrades like stained concrete.  When we are in a buying mode many times we let our emotions get the best of us.  They key to getting a great price can also be keeping our emotions in check.  Be prepared to walk away.

Calculate Your Rental Costs

Many times we pay more for a smaller unit than we would a larger one.  For example, what is more expensive a 1 bedroom apartment home renting for $1000 with 900 square feet or a 1 bedroom apartment home renting for $800 with 600 square feet.  The latter apartment is more expensive based upon square feet.  To calculate the cost per square foot, take the rental amount per month and divide by the square foot. 

Renting an apartment home can be very tricky.  Make sure you are armed with the tools to secure the best deal for yourself.
