How A Personal Life Coach Can Help You

This article explains why you need to find a personal life coach and how he or she can help you to achieve your goals or develop a skill set.

Have you had it with the same old rat race? Is getting out of bed in the morning becoming more and more difficult and more and more you’re looking forward to Friday afternoon? Perhaps it’s time you considered finding a personal life coach – someone to help remind you who you really are.

In general, coaching is a method of directing and training to achieve a goal or develop a skill set. A life coach is an ally and a partner who acts as a guide, a support, an objective observer, a listener who hears what’s between the lines in order to help you achieve what you want out of life. These are the keys to happiness, feelings of satisfaction and increased self-confidence.

We can all benefit from having someone who is knowledgeable and helpful to guide us over the rough patches and maybe even to help us accept with joy, the smooth paths, too. Sometimes we just need to commit to making a lifestyle change.

Nearly everyone has areas in their lives that could use some improvement. Although there are a number of ways to make improvements, sometimes it’s better to find another person, a mentor of sorts, to help us with that. There are a number of different ways and techniques that a qualified life coach can use.

One of those methods is called the Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT. It is often referred to as needless acupuncture. Although this is not something that I currently use, I have seen the results that it can produce and they can be quite remarkable.

EFT uses the energy pathways in your body called meridians, or “chi” in Chinese medicine. A stressful and fast paced life can block the flow of energy and actually cause destructive thoughts and feelings as well as physical aches and pains. Tapping on specific meridians can restore the free flow of energy, even in underlying tissues, which can block personal progress in any number of ways.

Another technique is to begin with a vague picture of where you’d like to be in your life. By focusing on where you’d like to be instead of where you are, specifics become clearer as your vague picture feels more and more believable to you. Where focus goes, energy flows.

It isn’t necessary to make a trip to an office and lie on a couch for an hour at a time. While you definitely want to meet with your life coach in person, many life coaches also work through phone calls, email, and even text messaging in an emergency.

Most life coaches will ask that you fill out a form designed to help you examine the area(s) in your life that you’re having trouble with, such as balancing family and career life. Subjects can include questions about your talents, you key goals, or challenges you have now or expect in the future. These questions are essential to help pinpoint the issues you need help with. Follow up questions at given intervals help ascertain your progress.

While styles of coaching can vary, your personal life coach should be someone who can understand your issues and help you use effective behaviour modification techniques and mental exercises to improve your attitudes toward work, familyFind Article, and life in general.
