Before we define the word "Reframe",Introducing NLP - Reframing Articles we should understand the word of "Frame". "Frame" is referring to a belief, what have filtered our view to this world, or any events that happen on & around us. Also, a frame is what it means to us in certain event. It is nothing wrong with frame that we have, unless that frame will produce an unwanted consequence. Only then “Reframing" come into picture to replace the initial frame in order to get better outcome.

Anthony Robbins wrote, "A signal has meaning only in the frame or context in which we perceive it." This quote clearly stated that no matter what context we are in, the ultimate decision to happiness is how we perceive the context that produce positive consequences.

There are 2 kinds of reframing techniques: Context Reframing & Content Reframing.

In context reframing, any kind of behavior is considered useful, every behavior is appropriate in some context. The reframe shows how it could be a useful response in a different context. For example, a man who complains of the mess her children make, may be persuaded that the mess means they love being with him.

In content reframing, or meaning reframing, refer to there are always two sides of the same situation, all depend on how you view it. For instance, just using an overcoming failure quote by Thomas Edison : “I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward.”

As summary, the difference between context and meaning reframing is:

Context Reframing identifying where or in what situation a behavior or event would be useful.

Attributing a specific meaning to a behavior or event is Meaning Reframing or Content Reframing.
