The Game of Life: Walk Away From Your Comfort Zone

Let’s admit, walking away from your conventional “comfort zone” could be one of the most difficult challenges experienced in this human existence. While on the surface we all want to “feel” safe in our environments and free from potential problems and issues that occur in everyday life, finding ways to disrupt your safety net or established comfort zone could bring about benefits in your life.

The first of which is you will learn to handle stress and stressful situations affectively as your shake-up this perceived safe environment by programming the sub-conscious to accept all outcomes, and ultimately “know” you are safe in this vast world of ever-changing life challenges. When you master “comfort zone” perceived protection for you personally and this zone is removed, you will find that the things or habits you have developed over the years are in fact, 'NOT' safe at all, they simply make you feel safe. Your “comfort zone” ideally is the world and expanding your “zone” beyond the limited boundaries of your mind’s perception will open a whole new world of opportunities and limitless possibilities, and it is just fine to discover new things and have new experiences.”

Now, let’s discover ways of expanding traditional limits placed on your mind and ultimately encouraging you to walk away from your perceived “comfort zone.” Comfort Zone is defined as a place or situation where one feels safe or at ease and without stress.

Benefits of this exercise are limitless:

By Incorporating a Daily Mantra, you will begin to program the mind for success: Repeat to yourself throughout the day, evening, and before going to bed, "I am calm and comfortable within---calm and comfortable”---with expression and really mean what you are programming into your mind.

Just a few house rules: The exercise can be performed alone, with your friend(s), spouse, mate, and/or significant other. If performed alone, always remember---"safety first." Spend at least (30) thirty minutes each day outside doing things you would not otherwise do by yourself or in the company of others.

The location selected for the exercise is unlimited by your personal creativity and imagination---change all things or habits you have developed and accepted as routine and do things that are totally new or at best, outside your normal way of doing things. Expect to have new experiences or visit places that take you out of your comfort zone or do things you never even perceive that you would do or perform, or even think about doing, keeping your personal and individual morals intact by the way---use discretion.

The Overall Objective includes: Stimulate the mind and your physical body to focus on "all my needs are met," and confidently move towards shocking your systematic approach to doing things into doing things differently from the perceived norm. Let you in on a little secret: During the exercise your normal functions will be challenged to use your individual creativity to explore new ways of doing things or new experiences you never thought possible, and as a result, your comfort zone will be expanded to allow you to function and focus on different experiences in this existence where “all your needs are met.”

In fact, the goal is to create and strengthen the mind and your physical body to remove comfort zone thinking to a new level of change and all possibilities turned into infinite opportunities to improve your life experiences with a focus on who and what you are, and more importantly, what you believe you have “need” of---you will find that you already possess internally. "The mind can be a stumbling block of lack and limitations, or an aid to a more fulfilled and productive experiences by expanding your comfort zone way beyond your routine life practices.”

Let’s begin with the end in mind: Be active in your creative space and awareness---create new activities or ways of doing things that you could perform during the exercise.

Perform all tasks within the boundaries of the mind, such as actually “changing-up” habits and routines that generally brings you comfort.

  • If you are use to going to work every day using a specific route or commute, use a different route or if in a metro area, ride the bus for a week, or carpool with a co-worker, (could be a co-worker you dislike or disagreed with in the past);
  • if you are use to taking the elevator at work, take the stairs for a week provided you are physically able, eat foods you dislike or try foods you have never experienced before, if you cook every day, eat out for a week if your budget can take it;
  • if you like red meat, do not eat red meat for a week, if you eat a lot of fast-foods, then cook all your meals at home, if you enjoy the comfort of your home, make it unpleasant for you to be there, move the furnishings out of place and do not clean up for a week;
  • turn off the air for an hour or two, (make sure to not put yourself in danger of heat problems or if medically you cannot do this without air conditioning then by all means don't perform this task or any tasks that would place your health or life in danger);
  • literally take a cold shower or sit in a bathtub of cold water, experience what it would feel like if you sit in a tub of cold water with your clothes on, or run outside when it’s raining(not when its lightening or really bad weather), walk outside or inside your home bare feet;
  • if you workout at a gym, skip the entire week or if not possible, workout on equipment that you do not normally care for or would never undertake in your exercise program, go a week without the use of technology, cell phones, iPods, iPads, video games, computers, and simply read a good novel or book;
  • when its dark, turn-off all the lights for an hour or two, turn off the news for a week;
  • refrain from reading the gossip columns, and watch a show about nature and/or animals, etc.---safely perform any tasks (using limitless creativity) with the goal of shocking your mind and physical body to a point of new discovery about your external surroundings and ultimately, new discoveries about your internal self;
  • once completed, write down in your journal about the experience each day and note how it made you “feel.”
  • (Hint: I know this may all seem “crazy” to you, but that’s the point to move from your comfort zone and experience things you never thought about doing or would never do under normal circumstances).

Anticipated Improvements to limitless thinking and experiences includes: Your five senses should be functioning at a much higher rate, and your non-physical attributes should improve to a level where your perceived “comfort zone” in this existence is join with your inner forces to expand your life experiences. You will discover that you have need of nothing.
