The racks are part of basic basketball equipment that any basketball team or any organized group of basketball players should own. It makes the job of storing basketballs a whole lot easier. Now that we know what they are, let us take some time to look at the physical structure of a typical basketball rack.
Basketball racks or basketball carts as they are known is some circles, come in various shapes, designs and sizes, each designed to hold a particular number of balls. There are those that are designed to hold a few balls. This type will be enough for a small organized group of street basketball players to do their thing. However, with capacity to hold up to 20 or even 30 balls are needed by teams in a more professional setup. These teams need to use many balls in practices and so they just have to have larger capacity racks in their training kit arsenal.
One basic feature of a basketball rack is the presence of wheels. This makes it easy to roll the basketballs in their racks. It would be unimaginable to think of having a stationary cart that would require people carrying the basketballs from the cart to the court, and back to the court. Why do that when the balls can just be rolled on and off the court?
Another feature is the presence of demarcating rails. This enables the balls to be stored more neatly. It is much easier to pick a ball from a demarcated rack than from an un-demarcated one. As you can see from the above diagrams, it is much easier to pick up a basketball from anywhere on rack 3, than it is on rack 2 (where you have to take them out sequentially from the top).
In addition, certain versions of basketball racks can be assembled. All you need is the components and the assembly manual and you are good to go. If you need to transport your rack to a new location, all you need to do it take it apart and reassemble it once more.
They generally cost anything between fifty dollars to five hundred dollars. The closed rack versions tend to cost more than the open rack versions. Basketball racks can be purchased from several online and offline sports shops. If ordering online, all you need to do is to go to the merchant's site, outline the features you need and you are sure to find something that will meet your tastes.
