Practice Chipping from the Sand to Improve your Overall GameYou will go through 3 steps, and around 30 practice swings before you put everything together. The first ten swings you will focus on keeping your head down , and your eyes on the target. The next step you will focus on the impact zone for 10 swings. The impact zone should be one or two inches behind the ball. Keep track of where you are impacting the sand before moving on to the next step. The third step you should work on maintaining a consistent speed through the impact zone. After completing these tasks you can begin practicing on chipping out of the sand. The reason that these three steps are split is to find out what is giving you the most trouble. This will allow you to focus on that part of the swing more until it becomes second nature. The more you practice the more confident you will be when you find yourself in a bunker. You have to be able to master these shots to really improve your game to the highest standards. ABOUT THE AUTHORI have a real passion for the game of golf and currently I am a golf coach and live and work in Sheffield in the UK.
Originally from Ireland I am now settled in England with my wife Mary and two children John James, aged 9 and my youngest Lisa, aged 3. Having survived a car crash in 1993 causing permanent damage to my left knee this unfortunately took away my chance of becoming a professional golfer so I am now doing the next best thing in teaching others to play the game. |
