Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is known as a martial arts, combat sport, and self defense system.† It focuses on grappling and ground fighting.† It is a form of Japanese martial art of the Kodokan judo which is also from Japanese Jujutsu within the early 20th century. Jiu-Jitsu is also called Gracie Jiu Jitsu, GJJ, BJJ, and Jiu Jitsu. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in recent years has possibly appeared to a flashy martial art technique.† So while others see the power involved with Jiu Jitsu , they fail to realize there is so much more involved than just willing their opponent into submission.
Helio Gracie, who was known as a legend and father of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, was a short, thin, and weak young man. Brazilian JiuJitsu requires the person to be patient and it is a tool that smaller or weaker opponents can do to save their physical energy.† Patience works with timing as the opponent will be able to figure when is the best time to take down their opponent during the Jiu Jitsu matches. Patience does spill over to a personís personal life such as being patient with their loved ones, and friends including their enemies.†
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu uses self-control which connects with all three of the physical, mental and spiritual attributes.† Self-control is seen as reflection of the personís personal discipline habits.† The students who undergo† Brazilian jiu jitsu training are advised to keep those self-control attributes by maintaining a healthy lifestyle that is without the abuse of drugs, alcohol, and any other things that can make the connection of the mind, body and spirit to decline.
Any space that is available during the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu match is a way for the opponent to get out of the position they are currently being held in submission at the moment.† Many times the fighter will try to tighten up any move to avoid any space for the opponent to get out of.† Fighters who are relaxed will be able move quicker and more easily, use less energy, resist attacks better, and are more away of what their opponent is trying to do.†
