3D TVs – The latest sizzlers in the Home Entertainment Segment

There was a time when photography and motion pictures cam in Black & White. New Technologies infused color into them. Then animation films started to take prominence followed by 3D movies. But till a couple of years ago this 3D was limited to movies in theatres only and the real effect could be felt only after wearing the special glasses meant for it that used special red-cyan lenses.

But yet again technology has taken another leap and now these 3D movies can be enjoyed and thrilled upon in your own living room through the 3D TVs and interestingly some of these TV sets do not require the so called ‘Special Glasses’ to get that 3D effect. This is known as the auto - stereoscopic technology.

The initial production of these 3D TVs came in High Definitions that proved too costly for domestic customers. Now many major changes have been made and the new resultant product comes in with affordability to some extent. They would be put on the domestic commercial market pretty soon and is expected to be great sizzles in the home entertainment segment as many players are up on to the foray to compete in this new emerging field.

With the introduction of the 3D TVs in the commercial market in 2010 the 3D TV discussion has gained a lot of significance and 3D TV has become the buzz word. Many are anxious to know all about it, its functions, the technology and how to choose the right one.

Let us see some of the major points that need to be seen when deciding to Buy 3D TVs. The first factor is the display. This comes in two options – 3D Projector at the high end and the Active Shutter Display 3D Technology at the next level. The second factor is the TV set. For this you can either opt for the Plasma TV, which again is on a very high end when it comes to pricing and next in line is the LCD which is perfect and affordable for all. The other factor that requires a careful notice is the Refresh Rate. This one needs to analyze well on a personal basis by viewing the actual display on a particular model. One can clearly note the flickering that creates a disturbance in the quality. This again comes in two options namely 240 HZ at the higher end followed by 120 HZ. Though there are also sets that come with 480 HZ rate but are not actually useful as they are beyond the normal human eye’s capacity and won’t make much of a difference.

The next factor that needs to be considered is the Display Clarity or Screen Resolution. This should decide by keeping in mind that distance from which they would be viewing the TV. If they would be viewing it from a longer distance high clarity won’t be of much use and if you are viewing it from a closer proximity high clarity should be a priority.
