Samsung’s new flagship handset,A Closer Look At The Powerful Samsung Galaxy S2 And Superb Blackberry Bold Touch 9900 Articles the Samsung Galaxy S2 is already selling well since its recent release, whilst the new Blackberry Bold Touch 9900 is receiving a warm reception from the market also. In this article I will pit the two against each other, comparing some of their key features so you can decide which device comes out on top.

Processor

An area which has seen rapid advancements on smartphones recently is the processors which power the devices. The Samsung Galaxy S2 features a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, making it one of the most powerful smartphones available. The benefits of this technology are numerous; efficient multitasking, improved loading times of web pages and super fast response times from the touchscreen and user interface to name but a few. The Blackberry Torch does not feature dual-core technology, but still packs a powerful punch in the form of a 1.2 GHz processor. Although not exactly up to the standard of the Galaxy S2’s chip, it still provides the power to make for a great user experience. Technically though, the Samsung Galaxy S2 comes out on top in the processor department.

Screen

The Samsung Galaxy S2 has a large touchscreen, measuring up at some 4.3 inches. Super AMOLED plus capacitive touchscreen technology makes for a stunning user experience, with some of the most advanced touchscreen technology available being utilised. The screen on the Blackberry Bold Touch 9900 is somewhat smaller at 2.8 inches, but the front of the handset is dominated by a full Qwerty keyboard, with the touchscreen an added bonus and a first for the Bold range. The physical keyboard is something the Samsung device does not have, although there is an on screen Qwerty keyboard. The screen is another area which the Samsung Galaxy S2 beats the Blackberry Bold Touch 9900, but if you have a preference for a physical keyboard, the Blackberry Bold Touch 9900 may be a better option.

Camera

Smartphone cameras are getting better and better, with some devices even boasting the ability to capture 3D photos and videos. Neither of these two devices have this, but both offer impressive cameras. The Samsung Galaxy S2 has an 8 megapixel offering which can capture hi-res still imagers as well as 1080p HD video footage. It also boasts a long list of settings and features for enhancing your photos, with full social networking integration which allows you to upload them directly to popular sites such as Facebook. The camera on the Blackberry Bold Touch 9900 operates at 5 megapixels, so the results are slightly less impressive than the Samsung handset’s but very good nonetheless. Additionally the camera can also shoot 720p HD video. On paper the camera on the Galaxy S2 is superior, but if this is a specification of little importance to you when choosing a new smartphone, should not necessarily be a reason to rule out the Blackberry, as its camera still does the job very well.

There is of course much more to each device than what I have covered in this article, but hopefully by looking at the processor, screen and camera you have gained an overview of what each handset offers. If choosing between the two there are many more factors you may want to consider; maybe your prefer one brand or operating system over the other, or maybe you would find one more suited to what you will be using it for; for example business users may prefer the Blackberry Bold Touch 9900 whereas multimedia enthusiasts are sure to favour the Samsung Galaxy S2.
