Since the release of the LG Optimus 2X, the first smartphone to incorporate a dual-core processor, several more handsets now boast this next generation technology. Among these are the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the LG Optimus 3D.

In this article I will give a comparison of these two handsets so you can decide which comes out on top. To give a fair comparison I will look at a few of the features which are most important when choosing a new smartphone.

Camera

Obviously,A Comparison Of The Key Features Of Stunning The Samsung Galaxy S2 And LG Optimus 3D Articles a smartphone would not be a smartphone if it did not come with a built in digital camera. The Samsung Galaxy S2 provides a high spec 8 megapixel offering, with all the bells and whistles you would expect from the manufacturer’s flagship device. Thanks to the high pixel resolution provided by the 8 million pixel count the resulting pictures are of fantastic quality and the camera can even shoot 1080p HD video footage as an added bonus. The camera on the LG Optimus 3D is a 5 megapixel unit, but offers the ability to shoot 3D video as the name of the handset suggests. It is largely down to personal preference which is better; is 3D an important aspect to you? If yes, then the LG Optimus 3D is the better cameraphone, but for all round functionality and results, you may prefer the Samsung Galaxy S2.

Operating System & User Interface

The Samsung Galaxy S2 ships with the latest version of the Android OS, version 2.3 also known as Gingerbread. The LG Optimus 3D comes with the previous version, 2.2 but it is upgradeable to the later version. both handsets are therefore able to access the Android Market where users can browse thousands of apps from many different categories, and download them straight to the phone. Over the top of the Android OS, each manufacturer has provided their custom Android OS. In the case of the LG Optimus 3D it is the LG 3D UI, and the Galaxy S2 has TouchWiz v4.0 UI. Each of these is simply provided to simplify navigation and functionality of the operating system itself. They both allow users to customise their user interface, and assign various apps and widgets to individual homescreens as well as set themes and colour schemes to the UI. One in not necessarily better than the other, as they both provide a similar experience but go about it in a slightly different way so it is largely down to personal preference.

Processor

Both handsets boast dual-core processors. The LG Optimus 3D comes with a 1 GHz dual-core processor whilst the 1.2 GHz offering under the hood of the Samsung Galaxy S2 is slightly more powerful. Whilst the Samsung Galaxy S2 may have a slightly more powerful processor on paper, both provide stunning performance. The benefits of dual-core processors are numerous; better web page loading times, increased response times from the touchscreen, more efficient multitasking and faster loading of apps are some of the advantages of this technology.

Both the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the LG Optimus 3D are stunning devices, and among the most advanced smartphones currently available. Both are light years ahead of the vast majority of their competition. It would be unfair to say one is better than the other, but on paper the Samsung Galaxy S2 just has the edge in terms of specifications and performance.
