The pocket watch was invented in the last of 15th century. At the first time, these are very big and in a box. Then people are not interested to this. However, in the second half of 18th century these became quite popular and luxurious thing to all as well as to the high-society people. At first, an American company made a watch which was accepted to all kinds of people. Actually, that was made for the railway drivers, and it was very big. It could not be able to carry on the pocket. Because, when they drive they could not locate the places and times. For this reason, the engineers gave them a pocket watch with a compass. The use of pocket watch was seen in England and in America. They usually used the watches for their status in society. There are two styles or types of these watches. One is hunter-case and other is open-face. There are also many movement styles of this type of watch. The types are based on the movement of the watch. The first on was the key-wind watch. In this there is a key to press, and then you have to set the time. However, if you close the clock, you have to reset the time again. It was only a temporary watch. After that, some kinds are lever-set, steam-set and pin-set movements. All of them have a key, and these have different procedures to set the time. Many watches are attached with compass to locate the right time with the desired position. The pocket watch set time is temporary. People have to set time after some times. There are some positions for set up the times. The adjustments of time have about eight types. They are pendant-up, pendant-down, pendant-left, pendant-right, dial-up, dial-down, temperature and levels of the watch. Pocket watches are not common in this modern age of life. We are popular with the wrist watches.  However, in the 1970 the watches came again as a fashion with three pieces suits. Now a day’s we are living in a modern world. We are using all the digital things, and these are very easy to use. Nevertheless, we have to remember that pocket watch is the first watch which showed us the uses of a clock. So we have to do something to make them popular in this modern society.
