The Toughcam EL is an inexpensive infrared imaging camera. This type of camera is commonly used in home energy audits and is a perfect tool for any residential or commercial inspector. All the interfaces; the power button, multifunction joystick, capture option, and trigger control buttons are easily accessed with large or small hands. The highly visible red casing is a smooth thick high impact plastic. The camera fits nicely in and around your hand.

The ICI Toughcam EL camera is the equipped with single point temperature measurement. The camera has a resolution of 160 x 120 and a temperature measurement range of -20° to 250° C (-4° to 482° F). The 160 x 120 LCD color display on the side of the camera is used to view the image in real-time; the display rotates 270 degrees vertically and is intelligent, so when the camera is upside down the screen is always right side up. This works out great if the user is in a confined space like a crawlspace or attic.

In the front of the camera are a visible camera which allows the user to view in a normal spectrum of light for a comparison and a laser pointer to see visibly what object the user is pointing the camera at. The battery compartment is placed in the grip of the unit so no dangling cables to get in the way. The ToughCam’s lithium ion battery supplies 3 hours of continuous operations per charge. In the bottom of the camera’s grip is a black rubber guard that covers the auxiliary power input. The Toughcam EL also has auto off feature, which means if the unit is powered on and there is no activity or no button is touched for a settable amount of time, the camera will shut down. The Toughcam’s software is very easy to use and has a multitude of functionality.
