A material or an object that produces magnetic field is called a magnet. This filed is invisible but is responsible for attracting other similar materials like iron; it also repels and attracts other magnets.

Magnetic Field - a space surrounding a magnet in which the magnetic force is exerted.

The basics of magnetism -• North pole of the magnet points to the geomagnetic north pole• NP attract SP• SP attract NP• North poles repel north poles• South pole repel north pole• The longer the distance between the poles the weaker the attraction and repletion• They strongly attract steel,All About Permanent Magnets Articles cobalt, iron• They slightly attract liquid oxygen and other materials• They slightly repel water, boron and carbon• The strength of a magnet varies at different locations on the magnet

We still hadn't discovered everything that there is to this object, but above are the basic proprieties of one.

Now we can easily demagnetize it by:• By hammering or jarring, this causes it to randomize the magnetic domains• Heating it past its Curie• Putting it near a reserve field above similar materials coercively.

There is still a lot of scientific amount of info on this object that I don't want to get into in this short article, like calculating force of magnetic field.

We use magnets in our every day products and life: • Floppy disks and hard disk use a small magnetic coating to record data• VHS tapes • Bank cards like credit and debit• Television and monitors (that's why it's not a good idea to stick one on your screen)• Speakers, microphones• Toys• Transportation - Maglev• Science• Electric motors and generators

And others… Basically we use magnets everyday without even noticing the impact it makes on our life. I was introduced to magnets while building a magnetic energy generator and been hooked since. Check outmy storyon the subject.
