Well,Android Tablet vs iPad 2 - The Battle of the Giants Articles the wait has finally come to an end with a new and upgraded version of the iPad being released. While there is no doubt that the iPad 2 has improved upon various features and even added some new ones in comparison to the first model, it still needs to be compared to its competitors. As you may already know, the main competitors in the tablet industry are the iPad and the Android tablets. While the Android tablets have gained the lead for a short while due to more advanced technology, it is very possible that the iPad 2 is catching up, and as such it is inevitable to make a comparison of the Android tablet vs iPad 2.
The Progress of the iPad
The first order of business is to take a look at the new and improved features which come with the iPad 2. The first thing most people notice is the fact that it is thinner and lighter than its predecessor. The actual measurements show that it is 0.19 inches thinner and 0.2 pounds lighter.
Naturally as most people would expect, the iPad 2 is faster than the first one, having a dual-core 1GHZ processor; the original only had a single core 1GHZ processor. For those who are not entirely familiar with the specifics of computer hardware, this means that everything you could do on your iPad you can do it a lot faster as well as multi-task without any hiccups.
There are also some cameras included, one in the front for chatting and the other in the rear for taking pictures and capturing videos in 720p format. It also has the ability to output high-definition videos through an HDMI connector.
Finally, as most people would expect from a high-end tablet and Apple product at this stage of the game, the iPad 2 comes with an built-in gyroscope.
However, it must be said that when it comes to software, the iPad 2 hasn't made significant changes, and the changesremain mostly superficial and hardware-focused.
How the Android Fares Against the New iPad 2
While it is true that the iPad 2 from Apple beats the Android when it comes to size and weight, it does so only by the slightest of margins. When it comes to the camera technology it can be said that Apple has finally caught up to the Android, but not surpassed it yet. Truth be told, the Android still surpasses the best Apple can throw at them by a wide margin.
The Android gives you the ability to fully customize the layout of your screen as well as the way you see thing displayed through a variety of widgets that can be easily downloaded. Contrarily to the intrusive email notification of the iPad 2, the Android makes it very subtle by only making a small flash on the bottom of the screen. While the iPad 2 may offer a primitive form of multi-tasking (doing one task at a time with minimum background processing) the Android has support for full-fledged multi-tasking.
All in all, while the iPad 2 is slightly lighter and more compact, it still offers quite a primitive and unfulfilling experience when compared to practically any Android tablet. The Android allows you to do so much more and makes the process faster; it offers you the closes experience you could have to browsing a desktop PC with your fingers.
