Changing the IP address of your iPhone

Changing your IP address can unblock sites, get past firewalls, give you privacy online, and increase online security.  To change IP address on and iPhone, you can do this is basically two ways.Open ProxiesOpen proxies actually have nothing to do with your iPhone, and can be used on a number of devices.  These are accessed through your web browser.  Usually found somewhere in the tools > options area of your web browser (depending on which one you're using), you can find a spot to enter an IP address and port number of a proxy server.  Through a proxy server, you'll be able to access the Internet with it as your "middle man" - requesting and delivering information to you.  Open proxies are free, but by using them, you're also sharing your IP information with administrators and possibly other members.  This could prove troublesome for some users who worry about spam, privacy, and malware.   However, as a way to get past firewalls, this is a great solution.Web Based proxiesThese are also accessible from your web browser but don't require you to change any settings.  By just accessing the web page with the "mini browse", and typing in your desired URL, you can access a blocked site.  While browsing for hours at a time in this way can be annoying, its a good "quick fix" for when certain networks block Facebook, YouTube, and other commonly blocked sites.  For regions of the world that have entire sets of IP addresses blocked for political reasons, this is not a practical solution.Virtual Private NetworksThese guys solve a lot of the problems of the above-mentioned tools.  No spam, no mini-browser, they work with apps, they let you choose your server location and IP address, and add more security and privacy to the whole mix.  If you look for a VPN to change IP address on your iPhone, go for PPTP or L2TP, the latter being faster, and the former being more secure. Ok, I won't pretend I can actually use that phrase correctly.  PPTP is faster and L2TP is more secure. OpenVPN cannot be used on iPhone without jailbreaking it, which is not recommended for warranty reasons.
