I have rarely met an individual that likes living with old technology. Usually it is right about the time when you are comfortable with what gadgets you do have, a neighbor or a friend comes along and shows you their bright shiny new toy, and you know immediately that the your gadgets are now old, and you must upgrade if you want to hang with the Joneses.

Right now,How A Digital Media Player Will Transform Your Living Room Articles the manufacturers and electronics big box stores are all pushing the Bluray Players and telling you that they are the latest and greatest.  Well, before you go sinking your money into a Bluray, open your mind to the possibility that there may already be something on the market that will spell the end of the Bluray.  If you haven’t heard of it yet, it is called a Digital Media Player and it will change your whole idea of how you get your digital content.

Almost everything these days is being built with WiFi technology to allow for wireless streaming communication with the internet.  Everything from our digital TV providers and cable services, to the television sets themselves.  Soon everything will connect to the internet wirelessly.  So what exactly is a digital media player and what does it do?  The concept is simple enough, a digital media player is a device that allows you to connect to your home network and the internet wirelessly to access online digital streaming content like movies and TV shows, and also to stream your personal media collection including your movies, music, and photos right to your living room or home theater room.

What is interesting is that most DVDs that you buy today come with an additional copy of the movie called a digital copy that you can download straight from the movie company.  A recent example of this is the movie, “The Hangover”.  After downloading movies and music through iTunes and these free digital copies, with a digital media player you would be able to stream the movie, in Full HD 1080p quality and Dolby Digital sound, right to your living room high definition TV set.  Some people are even creating backup copies of their entire DVD collections onto their home network.  Just imagine being able to watch your entire movie collection at any time with the push of a button.
