Inexpensive hearing aids – some facts to know

Hearing aids are for those who have difficulty in hearing. Even though inexpensive hearing aids are now available, those who have such problems should select hearing aids only after obtaining a recommendation from an otologist.

Most hearing aids available today are very expensive. Nevertheless, the task of finding inexpensive hearing aids is also not a problem when the pros and cons of hearing aids are known. The otologists use a test called pure tone hearing test to evaluate the position of the extent of the problem and recommend remedies based on the audiogram taken. Some serious cases have to undergo a threshold function test to evaluate their conditions. Only after using an inexpensive hearing or an expensive model for about two to three weeks, one can say if a particular hearing aid is suitable or not. Within this period, the patients should test the buttons of their hearing aids adjusting the audio level to have an appropriate hearing level for their problems. Inexpensive hearing aids are available for both patients who have hearing difficulty lower than 90dB or above it.  

Normally, patients who are with a hearing loss to the sound under 90dB, can wear internal or BTE hearing aids. Many types of BTE inexpensive hearing aids are available today. They are visible to every one around the patient since they are worn on the outer ears. BTE inexpensive hearing aids are available for those who have hearing loss to even over 90dB sound level. Nevertheless, the cases that cannot be resolved with BTE hearing aids should be recommended with more complex aids such as electronic implant to the cochlear. These should be surgically implanted.
