The process of taking your invention and turning it into a tangible product is called Invention Prototype ( also called "reducing the invention to practice") and a key step in this process is the development of a prototype. The prototype is an original model on which something is later patterned and developed. A prototype can range from non-working models and virtual drawings to 3D virtual designs showing functionality, all the way to fully functioning working prototypes.
