Create a SPOT Account and Activate SPOT Device at findmespot.com/activate

If you have got your new SPOT device, it needs to be activated before you set forth for the most adventurous trip of your life.

• Visit the official web portal – findmespot.com and look for the button “Activate Your SPOT” under “MY ACCOUNT”.
• Click on the option and it will take you to the activation page, i.e. “New Account Activation”.
• Here, you will have the chance to create a new SPOT account (or, if you already have an account created, simply use the credentials to login).
• Click on the “Begin Activation” button.
• It will direct you to a page that needs to be filled in with account and device information. Enter your Username, Password, Confirm Password, Secret Question and Answer, and choose your SPOT device.
• Next, enter your device details including Device Name, ESN, and Auth Code (these details can be found on the bottom of your retail box or inside the SPOT device in the battery compartment).

Note: Every step has a 20-minute time limit.

• Click on the “Next” button to continue.
• Register your device for business or personal use and enter your contact information.
• Click on the “Next” button and then select your payment option.
• Click on the “Next” button and enter your emergency contacts (this should comprise the first responders for medical services)
• After entering your payment information, you need to review and accept the Terms.
• Click on the “Next” button and select “Submit Payment”.
• You should see the device activation confirmation message on the screen.

How Does SPOT Work?

Here’s how SPOT works –

• GPS satellites provide signals.
• SPOT takes note of your GPS location and sends the pre-programmed message and your location to communication satellites.
• All your messages are then relayed by communication satellites to specific satellite antennas.
• Satellite antennas then route your location and message to the right network, which are then delivered as per the instructions via text message, email, or emergency notification to the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center.

When SPOT sends a message to GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center or your contacts, it includes GPS coordinates and an email to view your location using SPOT mapping.
