Pocket Watches and its various kinds in the market

Earlier, the one and only method to have a watch by buying the pocket watches as they were socially acceptable. But with the changing times, this tradition has also changed. Today, there are a number of options through which people can keep track of the time. The options include the wrist watches, time pieces, wall clocks and so on. Pocket watches are not only known for its classical look but also for its various kinds. One kind of pocket watch is the Open-face watch. This type of watches does not contain a cover or a lid and the time can be easily seen because of the open dial face. This kind has gained some popularity in the present day but it was not the case during the 18th and 19th centuries. The reason for this being display of this watch was scratched easily and hence; they were not much favored by people in the olden days. The Full hunter style watch is another kind of pocket watch. These pocket watches come with a lid that has to be raised to see the time. They provided to necessary cover for the delicate glass dial and protected it from scratches and breakage in even outdoor conditions. The third variant of pocket watches is the half hunter style watch that includes a cover. But this lid does not have to be lifted to view the time as the cover has a hole or crystal through which the time can be viewed. These pocket watches were very much in use during the eighteenth century.

The double hunter pocket watch is another kind that is very convenient and attractive. There are lids on two sides of the pocket watches that are to be raised to see the time. These look very good when placed on the night stand. Also there are double half hunter style pocket watches, which include maximum features of the half hunter and the double hunter variants in order to provide for greater functionality and usage while cutting down on maintenance and cleaning. On the whole, it can be said that pocket watches have only evolved to suit today’s market needs and continue to be in great usage because of their old world charm and classical designs and carvings.
