Popular shows in The UK and how to watch UK TV abroad

British TV is popular around the world. There are a few different ways to get access to it from outside The UK.

UK TV is great, and its popular all around the world - not just in The UK.  Classics like Monty Python, Dr. Who, and Black Adder have fans from far and wide.  Even now, new shows like Top Gear, Britain's Got Talent, The Weakest Link, Eastenders, Coronation Street, The Office and other dramas, comedies, and reality TV shows are reaching audiences in many different nations.  Some people spend time studying in The UK, and return home to find that there isn't much access to these shows.  Some people want to learn English, but are having trouble finding original episodes that are not dubbed in local languages.  Whatever the reason, its obvious that its difficult to watch UK TV abroad.  So is there a solution?

Well, one solution is to get satellite TV.  You get fresh broadcasts from hundreds of channels, and you may even be able to access TV stations from around the world. You can watch live sports, record shows, and see stuff as it comes out, not after.  The problem with this is that its expensive.  You also can't count on a signal during storms or other weather issues.  Satellite TV may also not be available in some regions of the world.

Another thing you could do is look for paid local channels.  Though most local channels will have local shows, news, and maybe some dubbed foreign stuff from a couple years ago, the new stuff is going to be on a premium channel.  It might not be the newest, and it might not be the shows you were looking for, but its something.

The best solution obviously is to go straight to the source and stream UK TV from UK sites.  To watch UK TV abroad in this manner, you need to change the IP address of your phone or computer.  There are a number of sites that can stream to iPhone, Mac, Android, Windows, and some even to Linux systems.  To change the IP address of your Internet device, its best to sign up with a VPN service.  Proxy services and open proxies do allow you to change IP address, but not all will let you choose the location of the serversArticle Search, and not all will get past the firewalls of these TV streaming sites.
