Rapid tooling (RT) is the general term for using a technological process to rapidly produce mold inserts for injection molding of plastics or the casting of metals. Most rapid tooling is created in 2-4 weeks rather than 4 or more weeks and is best-suited for quantities of anywhere from 1 to 100,000.
