Rumors have been circulating for some while now about the release of version 6.1 of Blackberrys operating system.   RIM,RIM Premiere The New 7.0 OS On The Brilliant Blackberry Bold Touch Articles the developers of the handsets, have now officially announced that this 6.1 update will now be called version 7.0 and that it will offer no "legacy support".  What this means is that anybody owning an older Blackberry handset will not be able to update to this new software which is not the news millions of Blackberry users wanted to hear.  There is however a brand new model due to be released together with the new OS and it looks destined to become a sensation.  The new Bold Touch is not content with working on the new platform alone and throws a number of enhanced features into the equation that make it the best Blackberry phone to date.   The first notable enhancement users can expect from the new operating system is a new visual system named Liquid Graphics.  The idea behind this development is to offer users a smoother visual experience and this is achieved mainly through improving the zooming and panning properties on the phones.  In conjunction with this the developers have been hard at work to ensure that any objects on screen render at a much quicker pace.  In basic terms it means that user will no longer experience delays on items resizing when they zoom in or any area of the screen, and likewise when they scroll using the new touch panels the transition between pages will be smooth and instant.  This system has been developed with RIM conscious that there new lineup of phones which sport touchscreens together with keypads will need to work incredibly well if they are to keep up with the likes of Apple and HTC, veterans in the touchscreen phone world. It is not only the visuals that have undergone an overhaul with the new OS on the Blackberry Bold Touch.  There have been some neat and considered additions designed to make using the phone a simple and enjoyable affair.  The popular universal search system that enabled users to easily find items on the phone now supports voice recognition. Simply say what you require into the microphone and the handset will not only search the phone to find what you are looking for but also the internet if you want it to.  I can see this system becoming a success everywhere as it genuinely removes the need to interact with the phone using touch thus saving time.  Blackberry web browsers have always had a fair bit of criticism so OS 7.0 has seen some welcomed improvements in this area including the new JIT Javascript Compiler that helps speed up load times on web pages.  The browser now also supports HTML 5 meaning the online experience is better than any previous Blackberry device could offer. The release of this new operating system is one of the main attractions of the new Blackberry Bold Touch handset and should ensure that the phone is not only a success with newcomers to the brands devices but also should see many existing users opting for a model upgrade. The Blackberry Bold Touch and the Nokia X7 are coming soon.
