Check any survey about smart phones or mobile apps over the Internet and you would commonly find that Apple and Android are the best mobile operating systems. Check any survey about smart phones or mobile apps over the Internet and you would commonly find that Apple and Android are the best mobile operating systems. Despite number of OS making companies present in the market,Security Backslides in Android and iOS Articles the popularity and craze for these two has never gone down because of the features infused in them by their manufacturers. But has anyone ever wondered about the combatant features of these operating systems? This is a tricky question and most answers would be "no". Most users will say that since, these operating systems are the best; there would be lesser chances of any issues related to their security arising at any point. However, experts and studies have a completely different opinion on this and both unanimously say that both these operating systems are quite vulnerable and susceptible when it comes to combating cyber attacks or illegal breaches. To make users trust on this, I have come up with this write up that throws light over the security pitfalls of both iOS and Android. However, I do not intend to take customers away from Android and Apple iOS but to wake them and make them aware of what they could come across with these two operating systems.

Poor app testing standard – It is very hard to believe that app testing standard adopted by Apple and Google both is not up to the mark. Very often, it is seen that the security and privacy of user data is under the scrutiny and questions of people using these operating systems. Although security level certification is up to mark for both these OS, but it's a bitter truth, that breaking security of iOS or Android has never been tougher for hackers. Hackers say that hacking Apple's iOS is a lot easier than hacking Android. Therefore, both Apple and Google, especially Apple will have to tighten the security to ensure that they continue to gain popularity as they have been doing in the past.

Non-satisfactory data encryption standards – Despite both iOS and Android undergoing severe data encryption practices at various levels of the production, the fact is that both have numerous data encryption related faults. These operating systems make apps running on them to save the data as cipher text on the disk and when the same data are imported to PC, it is saved as plain text. This is a big trouble for users of both Android and iOS.

No version updating facilities – For hackers and intruders, breaking into these operating systems has always been the easiest task to accomplish because both have one problem in common. Users of both iOS and Android find it tougher to update to a newer version of the software. That would mean that security features infused by developers in the latest version are completely missed by the users of older versions. This is the favourite area for hackers as they keep evolving and developing new hacking techniques for mobile operating systems. Android allows users to update their operating system but not on every mobile device. On the other hand, Apple never allows its users to update their iOS with the newer version of iOS making it more vulnerable from security point of view. This is the reason why both these operating systems have been the hot favourite of hackers to break in and get access to the private data of the users.
