As we all know,The Five Points of Choosing a Television Articles the flat panel television is a new trend right now because it has the advantages of low power consumption and radiation. It is favor of people’s health. More and more people choose flat panel television. In 2006, the global saleroom increased to fifty-eight point seven billions from the twenty-three billions in 2003. The parameter of flat panel television is a little complicated. When people choose atelevision, they do feel difficult to understand it. As a result, the choosing of a suitable flat television becomes a problem. There are five key points to remember when you choose a flat television.

The first points: the bigger size isn’t the better. In recent years, there are many flat televisions in big size and oversize with a lower price. But the oversize or big size doesn’t fit all families. The size is related to the viewing distance. For example, the viewing distance of 32" is two meters, the 37" is two point four meters, and the 47" is three meters. Before you choose the size of television, you should measure the distance between television and sofa. If you did not choose the right size, it could influence your vision and health.

The second points: the contrast between liquid crystal display (LCD) and plasma display panel (PDP). Which one is better? In regard of power dissipation, the LCD has lower power dissipation than the PDP. The PDP has a different display principle with LCD. The power dissipation of LCD is fixed if only the backlight brightness is the same. But the PDP has higher power dissipation if the luminance is better. The PDP has a high-contrast and clear motion graphics without trailing smear. If you don’t have a higher demand for television, the LCD is your best choice. But for sport fans, the PDP is the best choice because you can enjoy a better picture effect.

The third point: the 120Hz refreshing frequency is better than100Hz? The refreshing frequency refers to the number of pictures can be displayed in one second. It is said that the higher of refreshing frequency, the better of stability. But it isn’t true. The refresh rate of PAL standard television is 50Hz. Thus, the frequency doubling is 100Hz, not 120Hz. If your television is NTSC standard, the 120Hz is your choice because the refresh rate of NTSC standard is 60Hz. But if your television is PAL, you should choose the 100Hz. The 120Hz adopted the same technology with 100Hz.

The four point: the chip of image processing. It could influence the picture effect. At the present, the main IC manufacturer is Trident, Genesis etc. The Trident mainly produces middle and high level products, including SVP-CX (support under 37"), SVP-PX (support above 37"), SVP-LX, SVP-WX (support above 40"), SVP-WX (support 120Hz). The Sony, Samsung, Sharp, Phillips, Konka are mainly adopted this chip.

The Genesis has a better image, but the effect of DVD is not so good. The main advantage is clear image with the special technology in aliasing process. It has a good stereovision and coloration. The mainly television brands which use the chip are LG, Toshiba, Hisense, TCL and so on.

The last point is the choice of panel. The liquid crystal panel can be divided into IPS and AV panels according to the display technology. The IPS has fast response time, stable picture, big visible angle, lower cost and excellent motion picture. The disadvantage of IPS is electricity-guzzling. You could ask the seller to confirm if the television is IPS before making a decision.

Except for the above five points, you should be care for some pretty details. The higher of brightness, the color is a light white not ash-colored. High contrast has a larger dynamic range. Finally, I do hope that the above knowledge of television can help you to choose a best television in future.
