Understanding the Functions of Todays Security Systems

Now more than ever is a great time to take a good look at your home or businesses security status and also have a look at what a modern up to date security system has to offer. When many people think of an alarm or security system, they picture a system that consists of basic trip mechanisms that are located on windows and doors and an alarm on the side of the building that are connected to through a control panel.

Its  a simple concept that conjures up images of someone simply clipping a wire or two disable it like they have seen on TV or in the movies. All of this is true if you were to travel back in time to the early nineteen-seventies, to the time period just prior to ADT entering the home security business. Since that time advancements of exponential perportions have taken place and the advent of micro-electronics have completely  changed the way a security system operates and also has completely eliminated its vulnerabilities. To start with, wireless technology now means that those wire cutting scenes in the movies are completely outdated, because  the components in a system now send their signals to the control panel by radio waves. Whats more, the batteries in these individual components last up to three years and never run dead, because the components are programmed to signal the control panel when they get low. Todays security systems are also now multi-layered, meaning that they no longer consist of just trip sensors on windows and doors. A home security system now begins outside of the residence, where body heat and motion  detectors are used to set up a thirty-five foot perimeter that completely surrounds the home and its occupants. These components are the absolute latest in state of the art technology and are so finely calibrated that they can easily differentiate between a human and animals, such as cats and dogs, so there is never a false alarm. You would think that this is the first layer of home security in a modern alarm system, but its not. Actually the systems first layer of security is the ADT sign and decals that are placed in the front yard and on the home itself. This is because recent studies have shown that this name has become so widely recognized as being synonymous with effective fool proof alarm systems that well over 90% of incarcerated burglars stated that they passed up  homes and businesses protected by ADT as a mater of course when scouting for potential targets. After the third layer of security that consists of trip sensors on windows and doors comes the fourth layer of securityArticle Search, that is actually inside of the home or business. The same technology in body heat and motion detectors that is used on the outside perimeter of the building or residence is incorporated inside of the building to detect anyone that finds themselves there after the system has been  activated. These inside sensors are the answer to concerns that many business owner have regarding someone concealing themselves inside of the building during business hours.
