Bed And Breakfast And Hotels in Stornoway

This article looks at the accommodation available in the town of Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides/Western Isles of Scotland.

Stornoway, or as the Hebrideans call it, Steornabhagh (Gaelic), on Lewis in the Western Isles/Outer Hebrides of Scotland, is the primary town of the area and where you will find the local Council. To the first time tourist to the Western Isles/Outer Hebrides the town can seem a tad unappealing however the town has some truly gorgeous areas including, probably the most visited, the grounds of Lews Castle. Quiet recently the Local Council have invested considerable sums of money in improving the aesthetics of Stornoway in different ways for example by putting fountains and flower beds and even large artworks such as the herring girl just by the car park. As well as the fact that Stornoway has a number of plus points with regards to places of interest that are certainly rather beautiful there are also a large number of unbeatable places to visit that are within driving distance of the town itself, especially the highly popular, and incredibly lovely, Calanais(Callanish) standing stones.

Lewis has a great deal to offer the tourist not least the terrific sandy shores, to be found south westerly of Stornoway, or the ancient iron age Dun Carloway Broch, to be found about 1km away from the previously mentioned Calanais(Callanish) standing stones. With such a large selection of worthwhile places to visit Stornoway can be the most suitable place as a base for an Isle of Lewis vacation. So the best thing to do is deciding upon which Stornoway hotels to make reservations with.

The Caberfeidh Hotel is Steornabhagh's finest hotel. To be found on the edge of Stornoway, on the opposite side of the road to the heavily wooded grounds of Lews Castle ( which you must make the time to visit), this is the hotel you should choose if you would prefer to be away from the crowds during your stay on the Isle of Lewis.

The Royal Hotel is Steornabhagh's oldest hotel and is found right at the very centre of town, (well, a minutes walk from it), and overlooking the harbour with the grounds of Lews Castle in the distance. This is the Steornabhagh hotel to make your booking with if you would prefer a lively atmosphere during your stay on the Isle of Lewis.

The Caladh Inn is Steornabhagh's most substantial hotel offering the biggest selection of rooms. To be found on the edge of Stornoway, but on the road out to Stornoway airportHealth Fitness Articles, this hotel is another that is within a short distance of Stornoway town centre and all of the amenities available there.

Whether you choose to stay in the Caladh Inn or one of the other Hebrides hotels you can be certain that your Hebrides Isles visit will be most enjoyable.
