Brisbane is perfect for both a romantic getaway or a family trip.  If you do plan to travel with the kids, you will benefit if you research some of the many fun activities for them to take part in. There are so many activities to keep them entertained and occupied during the trip including parks and adventure games for all ages.  The parks in this area are beautiful and  offer fun and imaginative activities as well as a calming oasis of greenery and trees for the whole family's enjoyment.

Kalinga Park is right on Park Avenue and it is home to a huge sand pit and some incredible tree houses allowing for lots of climbing action.  The park has a nice sitting area for parents as well as some barbeque facilities if you are interested in having a family cookout.  A creek with ducks and an off leash doggie area are some of this parks biggest attractions, plus you can bring your bikes and ride along the winding bike paths located in this beautiful scenic park.

Orleigh Park is located in the West End and this park is so unique.  Come and slide down the tongue of the giant frog that is center attraction for this park.  There are an abundance of incredible gardens and knobby paths for the kids to explore.  Located by the rivers edge this is a good park for young children, but parents need to keep a careful eye.  Easily accessible by ferry, this park makes for a wonderful afternoon picnic spot.

If you are looking for some afternoon fun with the older children then make a stop at New Farm Park on Brunswick Street .  This very popular park is home to giant fig trees, great for hide and seek plus lots of challenging climbing equipment and wobbly bridges that provide hours of enjoyment for older kids.  Great for a picnic or lunch at the fancy cafe, a trip to New Farm Park is an experience you wont want to miss.

Lastly, you must consider a trip to the fabulous water-based playground right at the end of Edith Street.  The Wynnum Wading Pool and Playground makes for the perfect afternoon of splashing.  Here there are multiple large play areas which include whales and water spouts and a water-active climbing nets for the kids.  There are snacks available so come to Wynnum and make an afternoon of it.
