Leaves are changing color and cool weather is on the way,Grand Canyon National Park Choppers - Trying a Tour During the Fall Holiday Season Articles but that's no reason to postpone a fun getaway. Although summer is on the way out, cooler weather ushers in some benefits of its own. Comfortable weather and clearer skies mean something special at the Grand Canyon-it's time to take an air tour!Lift OffThese fun tours set off from two different locations. In Nevada there's the bright city of Las Vegas (as well as the adjoining Boulder City), and in Arizona you can leave from Tusayan, right outside the National Park. Both offer unique packages, so let's take a look at what each has to offer. Tours From NevadaThe West Rim is just over 100 miles outside of Vegas. When you fly from Vegas to the West Rim, you'll get an aerial view of the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead too. You can take an air-only tour out of Vegas or you can take a landing tour where you are dropped off at the canyon for some fun. A landing tour is special because you can choose to go to the bottom of the canyon, the top, or even both. The choppers that land on the canyon floor let you out near the Colorado River, which is the force responsible for carving out the canyon in ancient times. On the bottom you can enjoy a picnic with complimentary Champagne, and you could even add on a boat ride to explore the river and the canyon rock walls. At the top, you could land and visit the Grand Canyon Skywalk. The Skywalk is a glass bridge that hangs over the canyon so you can walk out and stand 4000 feet above the canyon floor. If you book an air-only tour, you'll see the same sights from the air, but you'll miss out on the ground experience. South Rim Tours From ArizonaAlthough Vegas is the most popular place for catching a Grand Canyon tour, you can also begin your tour in Arizona if you want, especially if you want to tour the South Rim. If you are in Vegas and want to take a tour of the South Rim, you can book a tour package that comes with an airplane ride to Tusayan where you can transfer to your South Rim tour. The South Rim has two tours to choose from. The first is 30 minutes long, and goes to the mysterious and isolated North Rim, and back again. The other tour lasts about an hour and it initially follows the same path as the shorter tour, but then it takes an extra leg that lets you see more of the park. You'll also fly to the eastern edge of the park, so in total, you'll fly over 75 percent of the Grand Canyon National Park. The longer tour is definitely worth the small increase in price because you get to see so much more. Not a lot of people can say they've seen that much of the Grand Canyon.Choosing The Deluxe TourYou'll also have to decide if you want to take the basic tour or if you want to upgrade to the deluxe version. The basic tours fly on older-style helicopters while the deluxe tours fly on modern sightseeing aircraft. Deluxe tours fly on EcoStar choppers and these were specifically designed for sightseeing so they have roomy cabins, bucket seats with no obstructed views, and panoramic viewing through the wraparound windshield. The EcoStar allows for the best Grand Canyon helicopter experience in existence. Deluxe tours in Vegas also offer a limousine shuttle service, and a flyover of the Las Vegas Strip. If your flight returns late in the day, you'll et to see the lights of Vegas come alive as you approach the city. ConclusionTouring the Grand Canyon is an amazing experience you need to do at least once. You'll have to choose which rim you want to see, if you want a landing tour or not, and if you want a basic or deluxe tour. Since there are so many options, your sure to find something you like. You'll find the best deals on Grand Canyon tours online, and when you find one you like, book it early because they fill up fast. The Grand Canyon is one of the most awe inspiring and beautiful places on earth. You would be doing yourself a disservice not to see it at least once in your lifetime. Visit the canyon this autumn and you can enjoy the cool weather and crisp air that lets you see for miles.
