I have to admit that it is always strange being in Bangkok, if the food is not hot enough then the weather certainly makes up for it.

I had heard about this new trend in hotels in Bangkok in the form of boutique hotels but I was not sure what a boutique hotel was.  I had heard of the term boutique in terms of shops many times before but I struggled to make the connection with how those shops were with compared to how hotels were ran and operated.  In Bangkok boutique hotels are few and far between in terms of finding them amongst the main hotel operators and you may not like this style of hotel if you are not aware of what it actually is to start with.
Remember the boom in airlines being no frills in a bid to lower prices and beat their competitors?  Well in Bangkok boutique hotels seem to be following suit and so it could be argued that anything boutique usually means cheap as it has less features than normal.  I have to say though that that would be an unfair assumption,Hotels in Bangkok - Staying the Distance Articles I usually enjoy staying in hotels with all the main features and then some so when I was given the change to stay in one of Bangkok’s leading boutique hotels I thought it would be a good idea to see just what all the fuss was about.  Things are definitely not on the up and up in a boutique hotel, by this I mean I was shocked at just how different the vibe was in these hotels, I am used to madness and mayhem whenever I check in to a hotel but I experienced none of this here.
In fact what I did experience was calmness and tranquility.  It was as if somebody had suddenly flicked a switch and all the hustle and bustle had been sucked in to oblivion leaving just serenity and this is something I am definitely not used to but I am sure I can easily adapt!  It felt great to not have to rush or worry and having time to myself allowed me to see Bangkok and its boutique hotels for what they really are, a little place of heaven away from the hell that awaits you outside (I say hell as a loving term of endearment as Thailand is a great country and Bangkok a great city) but I am not one who does well in areas that are crowded or stressful situations.  Staying in Bangkok, in this boutique hotel, allowed me to compose myself ready for the onslaught of meetings I was due to have throughout the week I was here and I have to say I would never have survived them if I did not have the boutique hotel to return to every night to decompress and unwind. Thank you Bangkok for showing me the beauty of boutique hotels and I look forward to staying in many more to come as I continue my travels.
