Best time to visit the preserve is during the cold weather from the mid November till end of the February. It is the best place to see the tigers and other wild animals like the swamp deer, sambar deer, barking deer, gaur, chital, Indian bison, spotted deer and other carnivores like wild dog and the leopard. Another exciting sighting is that of the Sloth bear but it is rare. Another attractive activity is bird watching tours at Kanha in India. The habitat is most suited for forest birds but migratory wetland birds arrive in thousands in winters. The National Park is habitat to wonderful species of birds some of them uncommon and exotic species which consist of pintails, egret, peacock, fowl, quail, doves, yellow footed green pigeon, parakeets, cuckoos, babblers, rollers, racket tailed drongo, nocturnal birds like night jars and large owls, drongos, bee-eaters, minivets, kingfishers, woodpeckers , and fly catchers etc. The highest point in the Park is named Bamni Dadar which is a sunset point and offers magnificent view of sun setting over the National Park. Tiger safari on jeep is the way to see and enjoy wilderness of Kanha in India. The jungle can be seen on elephant back as well but is subject to availability. There is a museum which exhibits the tribal culture and the wild life of this park. Kanha offers all types of accommodations for the tourists. There are luxury hotels in Kanha National Park as well as budget resorts. Popular wildlife camps are upwardly priced hence tourists on budget prefer economical accommodations. Kanha can be reached from Jabalpur which is a rail head as well an airport. Raipur is also close to Kanha but not as close as Jabalpur. Kanha Bandhavgarh and Pench are well connected by roads.
