Lets Visit Russia

When Russian novelist Fyodor Dostyoevsky said, “It is beauty that is going to save the world”, he was talking not of a lady love but of his infatuation for Russia. When exploring Russia you will see the old history from the Romanesque and Byzantine architecture and most are open for viewing.

For us from the USA, all that is usually required to fly are US passports and perhaps an admiration for Russian heritage. It can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks to receive your US Passports, depending on how much you can spend on the ordering process. When trying for the US passports, officers will ask for an up-to-date state ID and obtain a background report.

Whether you are running through nine time zones on the Trans Siberian Railway or exploring Europe’s best river, the Volga, Russia has something for any walk of life. For those wanting romance take that special someone to the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow. While in Moscow, don’t forget to take in St Basil’s Cathedral, which is the biggest structure in Moscow. Oh, and be sure to remember Russia’s answer to Shakespeare, Pushkin. The Pushkin Museum is an awesome way to settle your mind and embrace the romance of Russia that is around you.

If Dostoyevsky is up your alley, then travel north to St. Petersburg and see his home as well as sites associated with “Lolita” ’s Nabokov and poet Akhmatova. Don’t miss the Mariinsky Ballet that is also housed in this amazing northern city.

If however you are into food, then Russia is the home for you. There are all of foods to sample from, like bilin, stuffed cabbage or cold borscht. Remember you are in the country infamous for vodka and beer, so take a drink while you’re at the table.

You will also realize that Russia has a top educational system and the students are eager to learn. Before changing your life to come teach these tiny marvels, make sure you can own Russian visas. It can be hard, though not unfeasible, for strangers to get employment in Russia. It takes some determination and networking, but when you are there you’ll see how enthused the school kids are at education and their perfect manners shine through.
