Mexico, a republic in North America, is officially known as United Mexican States. It is surrounded by United States on the south and by the Pacific Ocean in south and west. Belize, Guatemala and the Caribbean Sea lie on its southeast. In the east it has the Gulf of Mexico. It covers an area of around two million square kilometers, making it the fifth biggest country in America and 14th largest nation in the world. It serves as a home for nearly 111 million people which make it rank 11th in the world in terms of population. Mexico has been the land of many great civilizations like the Mayas, the Olmecs, the Toltecs and the Aztecs.  It was conquered by Spain in 1521 and gained independence in 1821. More than 90 percent of the population speaks Spanish. The country displays a unique blend of culture of pre-Hispanic era and culture of Spain.

Mexico City is the capital of Mexico. It was founded by Aztecs in 1325 and is also known as Tenochtitlan. It is situated in the valley of Mexico also known as Basin of Mexico, is a major commercial and cultural center. Other major cities in Mexico include Monterrey, Guadalajara and Puebla. Acapulco is a popular tourist spot located on the Pacific coast, boasts of splendid natural bay and endless beaches. Ixtapa is the resort town known for 24 miles of sandy shores. Para sailing, fishing and collecting handicrafts are a few of the activities that tourists indulge in here. Puerto Vallarta captivates heart of the people with great mountains and stunning blue Pacific Ocean. Cancun, another popular tourist spot, is famous for its world class resorts, hotels clubs malls and gorgeous white sand beaches.

Mexico which is a paradise for tourists, boasts of great beaches and mountains, provides numerous options for tourist activities. Para sailing, scuba diving, trekking are a few activities enjoyed by the tourist. Apart from it, tourists also enjoy sightseeing through the pyramids of Teotihuacán and ancient castles and cathedral. Museums across the cities display the great historical past to keep people in-captivated. Mexico also boasts of great foods which include various flavors, colorful decorations and spices. Mexican food varies by region due to geographical, climate and ethnic differences. Northern Mexico is famous for its meat dishes while in south spicy vegetables and poultry dishes are popular. Seafood is popular in the regions bordering Gulf of Mexico or Pacific Ocean. Other cuisines of the world have gained popularity in recent times adding Mexican tinge to it.

Mexico is one of the largest tourism spot in the world. Peak tourist seasons are during July, August and December. Various tour packages are provided by the resorts and hotels making it easier for the tourists to enjoy their vacation and make it memorable. World class hotels, clubs and malls keep tourist interested and enjoy at the same time. Tennis, golfing, boat trips, scuba diving, fishing and tours are some of the activities to be enjoyed by the tourists. So with so many activities, events and cultures, Mexico is a delight for tourists to explore.
