Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is a lovely destination for a family vacation. With a population of just over 30,000 and temperatures peaking at 90 degrees Fahrenheit between June and August, and ranging in the 60’s and 70’s the rest of the year, it's a location the whole family is sure to enjoy.

There are so many activities for the entire family, you'll wonder why you would ever go anywhere else. Choose from tennis, a skateboard park or hockey rink, several playgrounds and more.

And with sixty miles of sand, Myrtle Beach offers nearly unending waterfront activities. Take a leisurely stroll along the beach, or run barefoot in the water and let the sand run through your toes. Carry along a blanket and delight in a short nap, build a sand castle, or search for seashells.

You can also drop in a hook and try your hand at fishing. You won’t even need a license when you fish from the pier. This is a great way to spend time as a family. Most kids love to fish—and compare fish stories when the day's fishing is done!

While you’re on the beach, you’ll have the perfect opportunity to take part in water sports such as kayaking, boating, scuba diving, or parasailing as a family, too. There are several places along the beach that offer equipment rentals and lessons for beginners.

And while playing in the water is fun, it isn’t all that's available in this popular vacation town. Many other attractions and events are available for your family to enjoy.

Attend a Pelicans baseball game, or spend a day at the Family Kingdom Amusement Park. Want something more relaxing? Try a movie at the IMAX theatre, which is always a good option for both children and adults.

Ripley's Aquarium is always a good option for water fun where you don't have to get wet unless you want to. They feature a variety of educational classes including preschool programs and a host of other activities. Or if you're brave, you can sleep with the sharks or swim with the stingrays while you're there.

Picnicking, hiking, and cruising through the state parks is a lot of fun, too. Use one of the many shelters and enjoy the natural wonders that surround you for as far as the eye can see.

You'll certainly want to stay on the beach so you can spend time near the water without having to travel far back to your room. And Oceanfront views are perfect for watching the sunset and sunrise. If you prefer, choose a condo to rent. You’ll find many options for lodging to suit your every need.

Planning a family vacation is easy when you have so many options. Decide on the activities your family will enjoy and the places you'd like to visitFeature Articles, then book a Myrtle Beach vacation rental—you'll be so glad you did!
