Ottawa

Ottawa is the capital of the Canadian province called Ontario and it is the capital of the country as well.

Ottawa sits proudly on the south bank of the Ottawa River. Dominating the city is the stately Parliament Building on parliament Hill. It is the most striking feature of the city with its Peace Tower, clock and copper roofing on both sides. The inside is just as beautiful and equally interesting when the House of Commons and Senate can be viewed. During the summer months the traditionally dressed Royal Canadian Mounted Police add yet another touch of pride to the scene. Most fittingly, the Supreme Court of Canada building where the highest court in the land convenes is architecturally intimidating. The entrance is a grand 12 meters high and is impressive in itself. The country premier art gallery, the National Gallery is another popular attraction in the capital. The building itself is impressive and inside displays a vast collection of international works. Many of the country finest museums and galleries can be visited in Ottawa including the National Aviation Museum, National Museum of Science and TechnologyFeature Articles, the Canadian Ski Museum and the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography.

The Thousand Island in eastern Ontario are actually made up of nearly two thousand islands. The reenactments by uniformed guards make a visit to Fort Henry a realistic trip to the past. Ontario Place features a while geodesic dome known as the Cinesphere where movies are shown on a six storey high circular screen. July the first marks Canada Day which is cause for celebration across the country and on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. The huge and striking fireworks in the skies above the House of Commons and the Parliament Buildings feature Canadian nationality pride.
