Hampi was once the capital of the erstwhile empire of Vijayanagar and happen to be the last of their capitals. The ruins of Hampi are flanked with temples that contributed to the glory of Vijaynagar Empire. The Virupaksha temple, near the river Tungabhadra was excavated here which is now one of the most important tourist centers. Another famous and archaeological excavation found here is the huge Chariot which stands here.

        The Nilgiri Mountain Railway toy train is one popular expedition in the picturesque hill station of Ooty. The train line was completed in 1899 and is still running full-fledgedly passing 16 tunnels and almost 250 bridges in total.
